JapanMaho Motoyama is a Tokyo-born designer whose work explores the delicate boundary between two-dimensional and three-dimensional form. After completing both her undergraduate (2015) and master's degree (2017) at the Faculty of Systems Design at Tokyo Metropolitan University, she began her professional career at Misawa Design Institute within Nippon Design Center Inc., where she worked from 2017 to 2023.
During this period, Motoyama developed a multidisciplinary practice spanning window display design, 3D paper engineering, and product design. Alongside her commercial projects, Motoyama maintains a personal artistic practice focused on constructing three-dimensional forms from a single sheet of paper. These works embody her ongoing investigation into transformation, precision, and the poetic potential of minimal materials-revealing complex spatial narratives through subtle manipulation of form.
